The University, as a key institution of modernity(=war=death) as well as a key site that upholds colonial capitalist extractivism, is by active design exhausting to be in. As graduate students, we inhabit a hybrid space between students and teachers, in a way doubly exhausting. And as graduate students of color in a PWI in a time of polycrisis, we need extra care. As a call to gather, move, breathe, be still and reflect together, this gathering is intended to be a balm, a pause, a respite – to co-create a space where we cultivate grounded presence and resource, not to become better more productive workers but to touch into and cultivate deep inner knowing.
This is a call to co-create a restorative container for our exhausted mind-body-hearts and to enact collective care in the University.
Registration
To confirm your spot please fill https://forms.gle/2fbhBNHirXXUaEkAA. These details will help me plan a safe session for you. I aim to facilitate in a way that my sessions are suitable for different bodies and abilities: movement and meditations will be gentle and soft, with a focus on bringing tender attention to the breath, interspersed with reflections. You are welcome and encouraged to adapt my guidance for yourself.
Please bring a pen, a journal, your water bottle and yoga mat with you. And come in comfortable clothes, that you can easily move around in, stretch your legs etc. I also suggest bringing a shawl/blanket that you can fold and place under your head or knees as needed, this can also be used as a cover up to keep you warm and cosy.
This is a loving offering for my peers. In the spirit of maintaining energetic balance, I invite you to consider offering something to the collective as well. This can take the form of your time, strength, attention, care, or money to whomever or whatever you deem appropriate.
